
Gender Equality Committee Breakfast Justice Hicks Receives Hollman Award NH Supreme Court Associate Justice Gary Hicks was presented with the 2012 Philip S. Hollman Award at the Gender Equality Breakfast at the Midyear Meeting on March 7. The award, established on the occasion of Judge Hollman’s retirement from the Superior Court bench in 2003, honors Judge Hollman’s efforts as a stalwart advocate for gender equality in the legal system.
"Justice Hicks has been a leader among leaders, like the
Justice Hicks | Judge Carbon | man for whom this award is named. He is our partner in creating gender equality," said one nomination. "We should recognize his contributions to this ongoing effort to balance the scales of justice for lawyers regardless of their gender."
Past recipients of the Hollman Award are Chief Justice Linda Dalianis (2011), Jennifer Parent (2010), Linda Paquette (2009), Katharine Daly (2008), Honey Hastings (2007), Linda Johnson (2006), Maureen Raiche Manning (2005) and the New Hampshire Public Defender’s Office (2004).

Judge Susan Carbon, director of the US Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women, was the guest speaker at the breakfast.
