Publications Publications Submission Guidelines Bar News Submission Guidelines
The New Hampshire Bar News is published 22 times a year (twice monthly except for one issue each in August and December) and is the official publication of the New Hampshire Bar Association. Bar News aims to provide Bar members with timely information about the Bar, its members and the practice of law in New Hampshire, and to promote an exchange of ideas about issues facing the legal community. The Bar News Advisory Board welcomes letters and articles on substantive legal matters, law practice and other topics of interest to Bar members. Submissions must include the author's name, address and phone number. Submissions via email or on computer diskettes are encouraged. Submissions will be considered from Bar members and others with an interest in New Hampshire's justice system. The Board is mindful of the publication's role in promoting civility, professionalism and other objectives of New Hampshire's unified Bar, as established in the Association's Constitution and by its Board of Governors. Submissions which include personal attacks, contain language which may be deemed defamatory, or are inconsistent with the purpose of the publication, will not be published. Submissions that relate to pending litigation or partisan politics will be closely scrutinized. Letters to "Morning Mail" generally should not exceed 300 words. Authors are encouraged to submit Inter Alia articles of up to 1,500 words dealing with issues relevant to law practice in New Hampshire. The Advisory Board reserves discretion to accept or reject articles or to consider exceptions to the length guidelines for subjects of extraordinary interest to the Bar. Editorial Advisory Board Advising the Bar News staff on policy issues and providing advice on content is the Bar News Editorial Advisory Board. Bar Journal Submission Guidelines Statement Of Editorial Policy And Specifications For Articles The Bar Journal is an official publication of the New Hampshire Bar Association. It is a journal for the lawyers and judges of this state and for others interested in New Hampshire law. We publish scholarly discourses, commentary on activities of the Bar, and articles on the administration of justice. While we are a serious journal, that does not mean that our articles must be dull or somber. We strive to publish a journal which is lively and which addresses issues of interest to significant segments of the Bar. We want to publish a journal which will be read and quoted. The statements and opinions expressed in editorials, articles and commentaries are those of the authors and not of the Association. Opposing viewpoints are welcome and, if suitable, will be published. This is the journal of the Association and should serve as a forum for thoughtful discussion of important issues. We invite people to submit articles or proposals to the Board of Editors for review. All articles should be clear, focused and have something specific to say to our readers. All articles are subject to the approval of the editors, and they reserve the right to edit or reject articles. Manuscripts can be emailed to the managing editor, dparker@nhbar.org, or submitted on diskette with a hard copy to the managing editor. Text should be double-spaced and should be accompanied by a brief biographical sketch and a black and white photograph of the author. Citations should conform to the Uniform System of Citation. Authors wishing to have manuscripts returned should submit a self-addressed, stamped envelope for that purpose with their manuscript. Material published in the Bar Journal remains the property of the Bar Journal and the author consents to the right of the New Hampshire Bar Association to copyright the work.
