New Hampshire high school students showcased their in-depth understanding of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights when they debated in the form of “Mock Congressional Hearings” on Friday, December 2, 2022. In one of the premier civics events in New Hampshire, students from Hollis-Brookline, John Stark Regional, and Milford High School held mock hearings before six panels consisting of three volunteer New Hampshire lawyers and judges, who acted as judges in the first of two culminating events of the We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution program.
Students from Milford High School were awarded Units 1-4 at “We the People” District Hearings at City Wide Community Center (Concord, NH).
Every student came prepared with a presentation, professionalism, and knowledge. Their answers to the questions posed by each panel of judges were thorough and focused both on the historical text as well as its application to current issues.
An awards ceremony was held to recognize each Constitutional Athlete individually, and in groups for Excellence in each of six units of study, directed by Attorney Howard J. Zibel, and Law Related Education Committee Chair, Attorney Jennifer A. Eber. Awards of excellence went to Milford High School for Units One through Four, Unit Five was awarded to John Stark High Regional High School, and Unit Six was awarded to Hollis-Brookline High School.

Students from Hollis-Brookline High School were awarded Unit 6 at “We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution” District Hearings at City Wide Community Center (Concord, NH).
This event leads up to the State Finals held on Friday, January 6, 2023. The Finals determine which group of students will have the opportunity to travel to our nation’s capital for National Finals in the spring.
