Meet the candidates:

Samuel H. Martin,
Jackson Lewis P.C.

I am excited to be a candidate for the opportunity of serving the New Hampshire Bar as a member of the IOLTA Grants Committee. I believe deeply in supporting critical legal services that rely on IOLTA funding. It would be my pleasure to assist in the Committee’s work and in that role to serve as an advocate for the IOLTA program.

I practice labor and employment litigation in the Portsmouth, New Hampshire office of Jackson Lewis P.C.. I also advise clients on matters of state and federal employment law in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. Since 2022, I have served as a member of the New Hampshire Executive Branch Ethics Committee. The committee is charged with enforcement of the Executive Branch Code of Ethics and the hearing of ethics complaints against all non-classified executive branch officials. In January 2023, I was designated as chair of the committee by Governor Sununu. I attended Boston College Law School and Fordham University and reside in Dover, New Hampshire.

Katie A. Mosher
Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell, P.C.

As an active but newer member of the Bar, I am eager to serve the IOLTA Grants Committee. I am an attorney at a firm that participates in the IOLTA program, as required by the NH Bar Foundation Bylaws.

The IOLTA Grants Committee is a small but vital group to our Bar – the IOLTA Grants support a variety of projects that are essential to the rule of law, access to justice, and civility in our State. Through IOLTA Grant funding, organizations deliver public education relating to the courts and legal matters. Moreover, the IOLTA Grants help fund organizations that offer critical legal services to low-income individuals, at-risk children, vulnerable seniors, individuals with disabilities, survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and others in the Granite State that have difficulty accessing the courts or have limited representation in the legal system in our State. The importance of access to justice and education about the legal system to New Hampshire cannot be understated.

The IOLTA Grants Committee plays a pivotal part in recommending to the NH Bar Foundation’s Board of Directors projects and initiatives the IOLTA funds should support. This year, the NH Bar Foundation provided nearly 2 million dollars in grants to projects supporting civil legal aid, the rights of children and people with disabilities, modest means and low-income legal services, and educational programs that enhance awareness and access to our legal system.

I am interested in serving this Committee to give back to the Bar. Based on my prior Board and non-profit experience, I can diligently and fairly review applications, narratives, and other supporting materials, ensuring that IOLTA Grant Guidelines are being met and all constituencies are being considered. I am a new attorney (under five years of practice) and can bring a different perspective to the Committee. As a careful listener and detailed, thorough thinker, I would be an asset to the IOLTA Grants Committee. I also value working and collaborating with a team, and I look forward to learning from the experienced and hard-working current members of the Committee.
